Store front changes

Monday, November 22nd, 2010

Quite some time ago I started the Store front as a means to help pay for the maintenance and keep the site up and running.

Due to the success of the sales from the web site and my online auctions on ebay…..I purchased the domain www.paracordgearguy.com and folks are being redirected to the store page here on the blog.

Utilizing both of these sites will allow me to keep costs low, avoiding the seemingly ever-increasing eBay seller and listing fees and pass on those savings to the customers.

Thanks again for all your help and support…..and check out some of the “Black Friday” deals I have going on through the end of December.

How to tie a Koppo lanyard to your flashlight

Sunday, October 24th, 2010

I found this on youtube…..and thought I’d pass it along to all. This is a great method of tying a lanyard to your flashlights and keeping it readily available.

My hats off to mercop27  for sharing this info with us all!

Maxpedition Single Sheath Gear Review

Sunday, October 24th, 2010

Ahh….. the lowly knife sheath. Not much thought is put into this item when you purchase a multi-tool or knife, be it a folder or fixed blade. Not long ago I purchased a fixed blade knife and the biggest let down was the sheath that came with it…..almost that the sheath design was an ‘after-thought’. Not as bad as those people that purchase a handgun and opt to tuck it in the waistband ‘gangsta’-style…..but that’s another topic.

I recently picked up a Maxpedition Single Sheath for my Gerber mult-tool and I’m totally blown away!

Fire Starters and Buddy Burners

Monday, October 18th, 2010

Here’s a recent project involving some old tuna cans, cardboard, string, some “Strike Anywhere” matches, an old coffee can and wax (either new or partial candles or even old crayons).

In addition to the old tried and true cotton balls soaked in petroleum jelly, here are some other methods that you can have on hand in your camping/hunting/prep kits.

Fire starters:

Very simple, these can be used when your tender is limited or even damp. These are nothing more than strips of cardboard wrapped and tied in string and then dipped in wax. Store these in an old coffee can or another container that you can store or even take with you on your next camping trip…might want to add some of these in your B.O.B. or G.H.B. as well.
